The 5 Spot: Possible LHC Ramifications!

So, if you haven't noticed, there was a scientific experiment called the Large Hadron Collider started this morning that could possibly be the biggest deal in history. If you're not up on what's happening then click here. I've been taking bets at work to see who thinks what will happen. Here's my take on the most interesting possibilities...

#5- They don't find the "God" particle/Higgs Boson: This would be crazy actually! This would force a lot of fundamental physics theories to have to take about a million steps back and re-examine everything. Super-physicist Stephen Hawking wrote about this mysterious physics concept in his book A Brief History of Time and is reported to be betting $100 that they don't find it, but he's really not that smart anyway...

#4- A black hole is created: This could theoretically end the world and would definitely be a bummer for my schedule of weekly movie watching. I'd advise not putting your money on this option though, because even if you win, you lose...

#3- Discovery of New Dimensions: We might just find out that we're living in a 14-dimensional world! Just think what that'll do for Brendan Fraser's career.

#2- Time Travel!!!- I could only wish!!

and last but not least.........................................
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1- All the beautiful women of the world become attracted to nerdy dudes!!!!!!- Which subsequently re-launches the career of this dude...

I listened to NPR last night with great intensity while they were clamoring around, waiting to turn it on (with a series of keystrokes, according to the guy).

Then they switched to a different broadcast. Something about abortion.

Needless to say I was bummed.

Then I went to bed.

By the way, I'm hoping for either possibility #2, #3, or #1.

My least favorite possibilities are #4, then #3, in that order (it's because of Brendan Fraser).

It's 8:30 in the morning and I did not expect your link to link to a nerdy rap video!!! Totally funny -- both the video and your post. Great pic of Screech, btw. (AND I cannot believe there are people at your work who are willing to "bet" on the outcome of this thing!)
